Student Clubs

Associated Student Body (ASB) is the student leadership organization at California City High School. ASB members serve as the voice of the student body by planning school activities, organizing spirit events, supporting clubs and athletics, and promoting a positive school culture. Through leadership, teamwork, and service, ASB works to create meaningful experiences that encourage school pride, student involvement, and community engagement. Students in ASB develop valuable skills in communication, organization, event planning, budgeting, and leadership while making a lasting impact on campus.

Journalism gives students the opportunity to inform, inspire, and connect the school community through ethical and engaging storytelling. Students develop skills in writing, interviewing, photography, graphic design, video production, and digital media while creating content for school publications, websites, yearbooks, and social media. Journalism students learn the importance of accuracy, integrity, and responsible reporting as they document school events, highlight student achievements, and preserve the history of California City High School. Whether interested in writing, photography, broadcasting, or media production, Journalism provides valuable real-world experience and prepares students for careers in communications, media, and beyond.

Work Ability is a school-to-work transition program that helps students develop the skills and experience needed for successful employment after high school. Through career exploration, job readiness training, work-based learning, and paid or unpaid work experiences, students build confidence, gain valuable workplace skills, and prepare for future careers. The program also provides individualized support with résumé writing, interview preparation, job placement, and workplace success. WorkAbility empowers students to become independent, career-ready, and successful in achieving their postsecondary employment goals.

Academic Decathlon is a premier academic competition that challenges students to excel across a wide range of subjects while developing teamwork, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Each year, students prepare in areas such as mathematics, science, literature, economics, social science, art, music, and speech, all centered around a common annual theme. Participants compete individually and as a team at regional, state, and national levels, earning medals, scholarships, and recognition for their achievements. Academic Decathlon welcomes students of all achievement levels who are motivated to learn, challenge themselves, and represent California City High School with pride.

Build. Code. Compete. The Robotics Club challenges students to turn ideas into reality by designing, building, and programming robots for competitions and real-world challenges. Students gain valuable STEM experience, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and prepare for future careers in engineering, computer science, and technology. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn!

Hispanic American Club celebrates Hispanic culture, heritage, and traditions while promoting diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness throughout the school community. Club members participate in cultural events, community service projects, leadership opportunities, and educational activities that honor the rich contributions of Hispanic Americans. The club provides a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds to learn, connect, and build meaningful relationships while fostering respect, unity, and school pride. Through service, advocacy, and celebration, the Hispanic American Club encourages students to embrace cultural diversity and become engaged members of their school and community.

Reading Rebels (Book Club) encourages students to explore the world of literature through engaging discussions, shared reading experiences, and a love for storytelling. Members discover new authors, genres, and perspectives while developing critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills through thoughtful conversations about books. The club provides a welcoming space for students to connect with others, exchange ideas, and celebrate the power of reading. Whether you are an avid reader or looking to discover your next favorite book, Reading Rebels welcomes all students who enjoy learning, imagining, and sharing great stories.

Travel Club provides students with the opportunity to explore new places, experience different cultures, and create lasting memories beyond the classroom. Through educational trips, cultural experiences, and group activities, members expand their understanding of history, communities, and the world around them. The Travel Club encourages curiosity, teamwork, and responsible citizenship while giving students the chance to learn through real-world experiences. Each year, members will have the exciting opportunity to travel to various destinations, where they will explore historic landmarks, experience American history firsthand, and create unforgettable memories with their classmates. Whether discovering a new destination or building friendships along the way, the Travel Club brings learning to life through adventure and exploration.

Crochet Club provides students with a creative and relaxing space to learn, practice, and share the art of crochet. Members develop patience, focus, and problem-solving skills while creating handmade projects and learning new techniques from fellow students and club members. Whether you are an experienced crocheter or picking up a hook for the first time, the Crochet Club welcomes students of all skill levels to connect, create, and express their creativity. Through collaboration and craftsmanship, students build friendships while developing a lifelong skill they can enjoy beyond high school.

Native American Club celebrates and promotes awareness of Native American cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions. The club provides students with opportunities to learn about Indigenous communities, participate in cultural activities, engage in meaningful discussions, and support a greater understanding and appreciation of Native American heritage. Through education, service, and community involvement, members work to promote respect, inclusion, and cultural awareness while building connections among students and celebrating the diverse backgrounds represented within our school community.

Cadet Corps provides students with opportunities to develop leadership, discipline, teamwork, and service skills through structured activities and community involvement. Cadets learn valuable skills such as responsibility, communication, goal-setting, and problem-solving while participating in leadership training, physical fitness activities, ceremonies, and service projects. The program encourages students to build confidence, demonstrate integrity, and develop the qualities needed to become responsible leaders in their school and community. Cadet Corps welcomes students who are interested in personal growth, teamwork, and making a positive impact.

Young Life is a student-centered organization that provides opportunities for students to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and participate in meaningful activities outside of the classroom. Through group gatherings, mentorship, service opportunities, and community-building events, Young Life encourages students to create connections, support one another, and grow as individuals. The club provides a welcoming environment where students can have fun, build positive relationships, and explore topics related to character, purpose, and personal growth. All students are encouraged to participate and be part of a supportive community.

Chess Club provides students with the opportunity to develop strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and sportsmanship through the game of chess. Members learn and practice chess strategies, compete in friendly matches, and challenge themselves to think critically and plan ahead. The club welcomes players of all experience levels, from beginners learning the basics to experienced players looking to sharpen their skills. Through collaboration, competition, and creative thinking, Chess Club helps students build confidence, patience, and lifelong skills while connecting with fellow students.

Tabletop Gaming Club brings students together through strategy, creativity, teamwork, and imagination. Members enjoy a variety of tabletop games, including board games, card games, role-playing games, and strategy-based challenges while developing problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. The club provides a welcoming environment where students can build friendships, learn new games, and explore creative storytelling and strategic thinking. Whether you are a seasoned gamer or new to tabletop gaming, all students are welcome to join, play, and connect with others in a fun and inclusive community.
